Bright and Sunny!

Hi peeps,

I decided to move away from Christmas cards just for one day!!  I think it had something to do with the 37 degree Celsius heat we had yesterday.  We are well and truly coming into summer here in Sydney, hence the bright and sunny card!

I based my card on the great sketch from Freshly Made Sketches which I rotated 90 degrees.

Here is my take on it:

 Supplies:
Lawn Fawn Clear Stamps - Life is Good
Lawn Fawn Dies - Life is Good
Memory Box Dies - Puffy Clouds
MFT Die-namics - Fishtail Flags Layers Stax
MFT Die-namics - Blueprints 14
Clearly Besotted - Scalloped Edges Die Collection
Nitwits Digital Paper Solids - From the Sea

Apologies for the slightly blurry photo, I didn't realise until I uploaded it and by then it was to dark to take another one.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Thanks for looking and hopefully see you again soon,

Mr Gingerbread

Hi everyone,

I have some more Whimsie Doodles sweetness to share with you as Guest Artist. The digital stamps in the November release Santa and Friends Collection are just so darn cute. If you have seen any of my previous posts you would already have met Santa and Snowbuddy.  I would now like to introduce you to GIngerbread man!!  He looks good enough to eat! The sentiment is from Whimsie Doodles Santa Sentiments.

Supplies:
Whimsie Doodles Digital Stamp - Santa and Friends
Whimsie Doodles Digital Stamp - Santa Sentiments
Lawn Fawn Trim the Tree Stamp Set - Candy
Lawn Fawn Trim the Tree Die Set - Candy
Spellbinders Classic Oval Large Dies
Simon Says Stamp Stencil - Medium Dots
American Crafts - Red Glitter Paper
Doodlebug Sprinkles - Ladybug
Doodlebug Sprinkles - Limeade
Rangers Stickles - Diamond
Wink of Stella - Clear Pen
Glossy Accents
American Crafts WOW Extra fine glitter - Pomegranate
American Crafts WOW Extra Fine Glitter -  Grass

The background was created using Simon Says Stencil medium dots and a variety of red and green copic markers.  A few Doodlebug Sprinkles were also added.  This panel was then mounted on red card. Oval die-cuts were used to create the frame for the sentiment.

Mr Gingerbread was coloured using copics. His mouth and cheeks were accentuated using Glossy accents.  His nose and buttons are a combination of glossy accents and ultrafine glitter, while Rangers Stickles was used for his other sparkly bits!
Here is a close up:

I hope you like him!

I might head off now and make a non-christmas card - think its something to do with the 40C degree heat outside!

Thanks for looking and I hope to see you again soon.

My Snowbuddy

Happy Sunday everyone,

I would like to share a card with you I made for Whimsie Doodles as their November Guest Artist. This cute little guy is called Snowbuddy and is part of the Santa and Friends Collection.   I decided to move away from the more traditional red and green Christmas colours and went for some pink and light blue instead - I think he, or maybe it should be a she....suits it!

For the card base I used my newly purchased Simon Says Falling Snow stencil and some embossing Paste.  I love how it came out! - this stencil is going to get alot of use.

Supplies:
Whimsie Doodles - Santa and Friends Digital Stamps
Simon Says Stamp Falling Snow Stencil
MFT Die-namics - Stitched Ciricle Stax
Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Borders Die
Memory Box - Crystalline Border Die
Clearly Besotted - Modern Christmas Stamp - Sentiment
Wendy Vecchi White Embossing Paste
Wink of Stella - White glitter pen
White Glitter Paper
Blue Ribbon from Stash

I coloured the die-cut background with my copics and added glitter snowflakes.
The 'snow' is outlined with Wink of Stella White Glitter pen - in the photo it just looks like a white line, but I promise you in real life it actually looks glittery!  I can't seem to make a card without adding at least one form of glitter!

Guest Artist at Whimsie Doodles!!

Hi everyone,
I'm super duper excited to be sharing my cards with you today as guest artist for Whimsie Doodles!  I may have mentioned this before but I love their digi's...and I also love making Christmas cards. So you can guess how excited I was when I got my hands on the new digital stamps from the November release  -  Santa & Friends and Santa Sentiments.

Here is my card using one of the four images from Santa & Friends:

  Supplies:
Whimsie Doodles - Santa & Friends Digital Stamps
Bo Bunny Mistletoe Collection 6x6 paper pad
Ribbon Girl - Red Grosgrain Ribbon
DecoArt Glamour Dust Crystal
Lawn Fawn Trim the Tree Clear Stamps
Woodware Santa's Here Clear Stamp - Sentiment
Simon Says Stamp Ink - Lipstick Red and Green Apple
Red and Green Card and Sequin from Stash

I kept with the traditional green and red for this one - Santa's just got to be in red!
I have quite a few Santa stamps but I'm not sure any are as cute as this guy!  I coloured him in with my copics and added some Crystal Glamour Dust to his hat and cuffs for some extra sparkle.

I would like to link this card up with the following Challenges:

For my second card I used one of the new Santa Sentiments:

Supplies:
Whimsie Doodles - Santa Sentiments Digital Stamps
Bo Bunny Mistletoe Collection 6x6 paper pad
MFT Die-namics - Christmas Ornaments Die (Holly)
Black Card, Star, Gems and Sequin from Stash
Sakura Gelly Roll Pen White

When I saw this sentiment my first thought was chalkboard!!  I have never tried this technique before and set myself the task of trying to do it with a digi!! I certainly achieved a messy chalkboard effect!

It was super easy to do. I enlarged the digi in Word and added an artistic effect called 'glow edges'.  This outlined all the words in white with a black background.  I coloured in the words with white sakura gelly roll pen to give a more realistic chalk effect used and I sponged the image with white ink.  The tree and stars are coloured with copics. Addition of paper, die-cut holly leaves, some bling and it was done.  It is probably one of the fastest Christmas cards I've ever made!

That's it from me today. For more inspiration head on over to Whimsie Doodle Blog where you can see the awesome cards made by the DT team and to join in with this month's challenge - Merry and Bright.

Thanks so much for visiting and hopefully see you again soon.

Whimsie Doodles DT Call

Hi everyone!
I was soo excited when I saw that Whimsie Doodles were having a design team call. They were the first company I ever bought a digital stamp from when I rediscovered card-making and are my go to company for cute digital stamps. I LOVE their images and own quite a few of them!  I would love to be part of their team.

I wanted to make a couple of cards for my entry instead of linking to a past post. With December just around the corner I just had to make some Christmas cards (I love making x-mas cards!!). For both cards I used one of my favourite Whimsie Doodles images called Snowman.

Card 1 - Warm Hugs and Wishes
For my first card I kept with the traditional Christmas colours of red and green and threw in some kraft card for extra 'warmth'.  I coloured him in with my copics and added a heart button.  I used Wink of Stella Clear Glitter pen on the pom poms and rim of his hat but it's very difficult to pick up in the photos.

 Supplies:
Whimsie Doodles - Snowman Digital Stamp
LOTV Clear Sentiment Stamps - Christmas Wishes Collection
Lil' Inker Designs Die - Stitched Rectangles
MFT Die-namics - Pierced Square Stax
Spellbinders Borderabilities A2 Curved Borders One
Woodware Tiny Snowflake Punch
Memento Tuxedo Black Ink
erLOTV Krafty Christmas Paper Pad
Bo Bunny Elf Magic Paper Pad
Nitwits - Twas the Night Green Plaid Digital Paper
Ribbon Girl - Plain Red Gosgrain Ribbon
Green Gem and Heart Button from Stash

Edited to include:

Card 2 - Winter Wishes
For my second card I used non-traditional colours for a 'cooler' card!  I also decided to try out a couple of techniques that I have not tried out before - making a shaker and creating my own background paper.  Considering I was watching TV when I made the background paper it didn't turn out too bad - a bit squinty in places, but that makes it even more unique....well thats what I tell myself anyway.

He was also coloured with copics and fuzzy cut.  I used Glamour Dust instead of Wink of Stella on his hat - it shows up so much better in the photos!

 Supplies:
Whimsie Doodles - Snowman Digital Stamp
LOTV Clear Sentiment Stamp - Christmas Wishes Collection
CuttleBug Snowfall Embossing Folder
Spellbinders Standard Circles Large
Nitwits Snowfolk Sold Digital Paper
Simon Says Stamp Ink - Island Blue, Sunshine and Green Apple
DecoArt Glamour Dust Crystal
Doodlebug Rainbow Assortment Sequins
Doodlebug Snowflake Sequins
Simon Says Stamp - Sequins Flat Moonshine

I am off now to make even more Christmas cards with the new images just released by Whimsie Doodles, which I was lucky enough to win.  They can be found in the What's New
Section.

Thanks for taking the time to look and hopefully see you again soon.  Enjoy the rest of your day.

Snowflakes Everywhere!

Hi everyone,

I can't believe it has been a week since my last post...... and that it is November already - where is the time going!!! Christmas is going to be here before we know it.  The rush is now on to get all my Christmas cards finished so I can post them off to all my friends and family in the UK.

Today I am sharing a card with one of my favourite stamps - LOTV James the Bear- In the Snow which I coloured with my copics. Unfortunately he is now retired, but they have load of other adorable stamps.

Supplies:
LOTV - James - In the Snow
LOTV - Christmas Sentiment Tags
Spellbinders Dies Standard Circles Large
Spellbinders Dies - Lacy Circles
Memory Box Dies - Crystalline Border
Neenah Cardstock - Desert Storm
Sweet Shoppe - Tis the Season For: Joy Digital Snowflake Paper
Silver glitter paper and white glitter paper
Memento - Rich Cocoa Pad
Ranger Stickles Waterfall Glitter
Ranger Liquid Pearls White Opal
Wink of Stella - clear pen
Ribbon, Twine and Snowflake charm from stash

This card is covered in snowflakes - snowflake paper, snowflake die-cuts and even a snowflake charm!
For the top half of the card I die-cut different shapes and sizes of snowflakes using Memory Box Crystalline border and glued them to the cardstock to give an embossed appearance. I also die-cut the flakes in silver and white glitter paper and surrounded James with them. For the snowfall I used liquid pearls.  I love glitter and sparkle on my wintry Christmas cards and couldn't resist using Wink of Stella on his hat and covering the ground with some glitter glue!

Here is a close up of James:
